Every day, volunteers and staff members prepare more than 3500 meals for St. Vincent De Paul’s five valley dining rooms and other organizations. Each Monday, breakfast at the Henry Unger Dining Room, 1075 W. Jackson Avenue, Phoenix, is served along with something extra special. never give up

off the speaking path

Jimmy Walker, the founder of Celebrity Fight, started the Never Give Up speaker series in 2008. It brings celebrities to St. Vincent de Paul to motivate and encourage the homeless. Sports stars, celebrities, businessmen, and authors to speak and visit with clients during breakfast, from 7:30 to 8:30am, every Monday.

The list of notable celebrities and role models has been growing since the program started. Among those who have spent the breakfast hour with St. Vincent De Paul are NFL Star, Nick Lowery: Basketball Hall-of-Famer, Nancy Leiberman: Basketball legend, Meadowlark Lemon: Phoenix Cardinal, Larry Fitzgerald, NBA star, Dwyane Wade; Boxer, Earnie Shavers; and, to kick off 2010, number one ranked women’s golfer, Cristie Kerr.
