think of the future
There are almost as many ways to give as there are needs to be met. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul honors and celebrates those who have made planned gifts through their will, trust, retirement account, or life insurance beneficiary designation, endowment, or charitable gift annuity.
As a member of our Circle of Angels, you will receive a membership pin, an annual holiday gift made by our volunteers, and invitations to some of our most special events.
Are you under 40? With your career in full motion and perhaps a young family in the nest, you are more focused on the present -but what would happen to your loved ones if they were faced with your sudden death?
There is no comfortable time to address the idea of an estate plan. Let us help you protect the people and causes you love. The goal of estate planning is to provide peace of mind and financial support for you and your loved ones.
After your family is taken care of, you can help less fortunated families by planning a gift that makes a lasting impact on our work and their future.

a bequest is forever
If you have a family member or friend that has been touched by Society of St. Vincent de Paul, we hope that you will consider making a gift to us in honor of that person.
Making an honorary gift is a wonderful way to acknowledge someone's vision for the future. An outright gift today will help fund our immediate ongoing needs or an upcoming project.
A bequest through your will can inspire philanthropy in others and further a cause that is important to you. A charitable bequest works for anyone that would like to support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the future.
A few sentences in your will or trust are all that is needed. Your gift can be structured so as to leave a specific item, a certain amount of money, or a percentage of your estate. The choice is yours!
And because you are not actually making the gift until after your lifetime, you can change your mind at any time. Or you may consider supporting our work after your lifetime by naming us as the beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance or insurance annuity assets.
charitable gift annuities
If you would like to support our mission and receive steady payments during your retirement years, you might want to consider a charitable gift annuity.
Through a simple contract, you agree to make a donation of cash, stocks, or other assets. In return, we agree to pay you (and someone else if you so choose) a fixed amount each year for the rest of your life.
When you arrange a charitable gift annuity, you're allowed an income tax charitable deduction in the year you set up the gift annuity if you itemize your deductions.
Your charitable gift annuity payments are partially income tax-free throughout your estimated life expectancy and they cannot be affected by ups and downs in the economy.
A charitable remainder trust may also provide annual income each year for the rest of your life from assets you give to the trust you create. Your income may be either variable or a fixed amount, with the balance in the trust reverting to the charity of your choice at the end of your lifetime.
endowments
When you make an endowed gift, only a small portion of your gift will be spent, allowing the remaining amount to continue growing. That portion of your gift will supplement our programs forever.
An Endowment is a fund that is invested to produce maximum total returns that are used to fund program expenses. An endowment gift may be given for general purposes and used at the discretion of the Board, or it may be expressly designated, or restricted, for a specific program. Endowment funds are intended to last forever, with investment income and gains providing 4% to 7% for annual spending, while at the same time growing the funds to assist future generations.
Endowment funds are critical to the long-term health and stability of non-profit organizations like St. Vincent de Paul. They enable the Society to level out its funding sources over good times and bad. The working poor and homeless individuals and families whom we serve are especially in need of food, rent assistance and medical attention when the economy is poor and donations decline. Endowment funds ensure that these important services can be provided over the long term.
Unfortunately, the need for our services has grown over time and is expected to continue to grow. That's why it's so important we plan for the future by building our endowment funds to support our programs and services.
There are many ways you can enjoy financial benefits for yourself while making a long–term impact on the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and, most important, the homeless and working poor individuals and families we serve. Include us in your estate plan and help us ensure a better tomorrow for Arizona’s poor.
